Geiko gets ahead with unique Permanent Straightening Treatment

Geiko is pleased to formally unveil a unique permanent hair straightening treatment which can dramatically improve the condition and appearance of even the most frizz-prone or unruly hair.

Although permanent straightening is offered by other salons in various forms, award winning Geiko based in Leamington Spa is currently the only salon in the UK to offer the BMART branded permanent straightening treatment that originates from Korea. Unlike many other systems, this treatment is suitable for chemically treated hair.

The procedure offered by Geiko involves advanced technology rather than being heavily chemical reliant. The principle behind it relaxes the hair shaft and locks in moisture to create a permanently smooth, glossy style. The system ‘kids’ the hair that it is in its original curly form, but in actual fact hair is relaxed into a sleek straight style and consequently resists fighting back into its ‘curly state’.

The ultra conditioning treatment is ideal for frizz prone problem hair and suitable for even the curliest of locks. It is the perfect treatment for those who are looking to achieve glamorously sleek and healthy looking hair that is easy to care for on a day to day basis. It lasts for around 12 months but roots can be treated during this time to maintain fabulous looking hair.

The Geiko Hair Straightening Treatment – how it works

Treatment Preparation – a week before:

The treatment begins with an assessment of the health of the hair by Geiko’s fully trained hair technicians a week before the appointment. A luxurious Korean conditioning treatment is applied to the hair a week before to strengthen the hair in preparation of the straightening procedure. This is not necessary for healthy untreated hair.

The Permanent Straightening Treatment:

At the time of the actual treatment, if hair is dry, damaged or weakened through chemical treatments, then a further conditioning Keragen serum containing keratin and collagen is applied after shampooing to protect from heat damage and encourage the hair shafts to bond together. Hair is then blow-dried under a mild heat.

Hair is then divided into sections and the relaxing gel is applied and left to work for between 5 - 15 minutes before rinsing and blow drying. Hair is then once again divided into sections and special BMART straightening irons are used repeatedly from roots to ends in conjunction with the straightening solution which restructures the protein bonds of the hair and seals in moisture. A neutraliser and Ph balancer is then used before a further rinse and condition. Hair is then dried for a final time.

The entire process takes approximately 4-5 hours and treatments are created to suit each client’s hair type.
